Conservatory Spring Delight

Visited Como Zoo and Conservatory on a rainy day last week with my new (hand me down) camera, the performance of which I adore. However, I've a lot to learn and have just begun. It's so tranquil there, like time stands still and is under the control of the plants alone.

Island Girl

I spent spring break in beachy Turks and Caicos gaining weight and burning my skin to a flake. It was mostly very UN-glamorous but it made my hair curl and I enjoyed the freedom of being half naked without my burdensome winter coat.

Little peek of the ocean and a game of what's-in-my-purse. Like I said, we spent a lot of time eating which is just fine with me.
As for the clothing it was dreamy dresses and (tiny) heels for dinner each night, strappy basic black bikini to even my "tan", and like five different nautically striped shirts.

Get (Low)

It's impossible not to notice the mid-length trend sweeping recent attire. I can only try to hop on the band wagon, and have pulled these tiny heels from the abyss of my closet. I've worn them maybe twice before and that's because they hurt like a you-know-what. But beauty is pain and I love how slender they make my exposed ankle look.

Although it is the warmest day since fall fell I gravitated toward this turtleneck, an impulse I never turn down. I usually like statement earrings with a turtleneck, I think they accent each other well. Although I didn't get a good close up of these ones, they're one of my favorites-partly because they shine little sparkly reflections when they catch the sun.
I like the shape these shoes give me, elongating the line of my legs. The moment I first spotted them I knew they had to be mine (and for a reasonable price since I found them inside a Goodwill- no, seriously!).

Holly Hobby Mini

Open on a girl shopping for the perfect prom dress. The store is, of course, vintage. Through her digging among frothy tutus and authentic seventies wraps she spies a checkered/floral print. She continues on without trying it on, her specific trip aimed somewhere else entirely.
The girl enters the same shop later that spring, her birthday is days away. She has spending money in her pocket. The dress is magically un-purchased.

Needless to say she bought the garment after all. It surprisingly fit her as if it were made for her.

Jean and patches

Jeans and patches... two things that have gone together since the beginning of time. Spent the day touring a potential summer job location. It's a horse farm with fantastical views of lakes and rolling hills-all masked by the recent snowfall, of course.
Since spring break is almost here, I've been looking through my swimsuits (and dreading trying them back on for size). For clothing I was thinking striped T's, breezy kimonos, high-wasted shorts, and skimpy sundresses to show off sun kissed shoulders. I'm on the hunt for a pair of heeled sandals to traipse around in paired with my suit, a long cover-up, a ridiculously large sun hat, and obviously large shades.
Although the location of this getaway is still a surprise, I know it will be hot and beachy. Therefor my pasty skin will require lots of sunblock!
Breaking out my old copy of Return To Paradise seems appropriate as well.
Au Revoir!

Fresh to death

An unbelievable turn of events has lead me back to blogging. Formerly Liv of kissesfromakitten.blogspot.com, I'm reinvented. Not to mention I'm older and wiser. I think my style has grown along with me, and I'm swinging around full circle. I've had a recent surge of creativity and a renewed passion for life that I feel I must share. To me, there is nothing more vibrantly alive than one's style. I feel I must feed my creative urges as they are starting to blossom. So here is my blog, primarily a personal style blog-well, that's the plan anyway. I can't pretend to know the future but I do know that this will become whatever it may become, and that really I'm only along for the ride. Please enjoy as my trial and error teach and reteach me lessons on life, happiness, and the pursuit of the perfect outfit.
